EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
Role of Council
The Executive Council is made up of five
Senior NOAA officials, representing the four NOAA Goal Teams, and is chaired
by the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Laboratories and Cooperative
Institutes. The NOAA Science Advisor, the NGI Director, and the NOAA
Cooperative Institutes Program Manger will serve as ex officio members of
the Executive Council.
The Executive Council is primarily responsible for broad policy and program
direction for the NGI. It will meet at least once yearly to review NGI
programs and progress, and to transmit NOAA strategic plans and priorities
to the NGI management in order to ensure program alignment with these
priorities. In turn, the Executive Council will provide information
regarding the NGI successes to the NOAA Administrator to justify inclusion
of NGI funding in the NOAA core budget. This NGI is wholly committed to
transparency, accountability, governance control, and effective integration
through the Executive Council.
