Hurricane Katrina data in a Virtual Environment
Click previews for larger image.
This screen capture is looking south from around Pass Christian, MS as the adcirc modeled storm surge reaches the maximum FEMA high water marks. The poles with a colored ball on top represent different values of the FEMA high water records. The dots in the distance are time varying and show water surface as Hurricane Katrina pushes the storm surge across the gulf and over the land.
The green and blue path through the center of these points show Highway 90 at the west end of Pass Christian leading up to the bridge crossing to Bay St. Louis. They are color coded to height so that some of the other features will be visible such as roofs of buildings, streets and canals.
This is the same data looking from the surface across the points.
Now both Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis are shown. Notice that only part of the bridge is visible since this is data from after Katrina hit.
