Luke Thompson attended the NOAA Ocean Acidification Community Meeting & Mini-Symposium at the Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, CA, from January 4-6, 2023. He presented a poster entitled "Patterns of microbial and plankton diversity from eDNA collected on GOMECC-4".

Luke Thompson co-led a workshop focused on identifying pathways for the integration of water quality and marine biodiversity observations to support decision-making in the coastal zone of the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event was held at the US Consulate General of Sao Paulo from November 29th through December 2nd. This activity was promoted by Gabrielle Canonico of NOAA IOOS and co-developed in partnership with the Marine Biodiversity Observation Network Pole to Pole of the Americas (MBON Pole to Pole) and the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Environment of the State of Sao Paulo (SIMA). Several groups from SIMA, academia, and industry participated in these discussions. This event is a first step toward enhancing technical cooperation between SIMA, the federal government of Brazil, and NOAA. A communication from SIMA about the workshop is available here.
